Cheese Buns

1 1/2 oz fresh yeast
3/4 cup warm water
5 cups flour
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
1 egg
2 eggs separated
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbs vanilla sugar

filling:
1 lb whipped cream cheese
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbs vanilla sugar
1 egg separated
1/3 cup chocolate chips

In the bowl of a mixer combine yeast with warm water and a dash of sugar and let stand until activated. Add in the flour, juice, margarine, egg, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Mix well until a dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.\

Preheat oven to 350.

To prepare filling combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla sugar and egg yolk.

Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Working with one pc. at a time roll each pc. into a rectangle.  Spread 1/4 of the filling mixture all over the dough. Sprinkle with some chocolate chips. Roll up jelly roll style and slice into buns. Transfer into a muffin cup or place in a round tin. Brush with egg whites. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

  1. why would you use margarine in a dairy recipe? doesn't it taste better with butter?

  2. This was how the recipe was written...It came out great so I wouldnt mess with it!
