Deckel Recipe

Deckel:


Ingredients
-
2 Tbs. oil
-
6 Tbs. red wine vinegar
-
2/3 cup ketchup
-
3/4 cup brown sugar
-
3 1/2 - 4 lb. deckel
-
2-3 cloves garlic
-
pepper

Instructions
Place deckel in large pot. put enough water in to cover meat.
Add whole garlic cloves and dash of black pepper. Cook on low flame for 2 hours covered.
Combine sauce ingrediants. Let meat cool and slice into thin strips. Place in pan and cover with sauce.
bake on 375 degrees for 1 - 2 hours (until desired softness).

  1. How do you make this in advance? Do you freeze the sauce separately?

  2. You can freeze it in the pan with the sauce poured over it but not yet fully baked (if you want to do it in advance) If you already made it and have leftovers that freezes great as well!
